The historic land of Galilee has been home to civilizations for thousands of years, and is the place where Jesus of Nazareth conducted much of his teaching and ministry. Modern Galilee is also home to considerable ethnic and religious diversity: Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Hebrews and Arabs call this wonderful land their home and all are known for their warm and inviting Middle Eastern hospitality. Finally, Galilee is home to abounding natural beauty. The mountainous terrain and ample rain give rise to beautiful biodiversity offering streams and forests filled with birds, animals and wildflowers.
Through this beautiful land winds the Jesus Trail, a hiking route connecting all of the major sites from Jesus’ life. In the Galilee the Biblical story unfolds, and travelers have an opportunity to participate in it the same way that Jesus and his disciples traveled from village to village. On the trail, travelers follow in the footsteps of Jesus and travel simply, as he commanded: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic” (Luke 9:3).
